Port Mirror Configuration Within Chronicall
Port Mirror Configuration Within Chronicall
AlertXima Support will not set up or manage your network switch.
Port Mirror will only record external calls. Internal call recording via Port Mirror is not possible or supported.
Port Mirrors are another way for Chronicall to receive the audio and metadata it needs to create call recordings without the need for a VRTX device, which is not viable in some situations.
NoteFor Port Mirror to work, you need a SPAN Port Mirror (Layer 1 mirroring — in VMware this is called Distributed Port Mirroring).
We do not support:
- RSPAN (Layer 2 mirroring — in VMware, Remote Mirroring Source)
- ESPAN (Layer 3 mirroring — in VMware, Encapsulated Remote Mirroring)
Steps
- Provision a port on your network switch to have all SIP network data mirrored to it.
-
Typically you would mirror the SIP line going to the IP Office/Aura CM, though in certain environments you may need to mirror the traffic coming from the DMarc.
-
In the example below, you would typically mirror the traffic on 26 to 48, but in some instances, you may need to mirror from 25 to 27 instead.
-
- The Recording Library server will need a secondary NIC connected to the mirrored port with an ethernet cable.
- This secondary NIC needs a statically set IPv4 address, with data from the mirrored port flowing to it.
- The IP address cannot be the same as the Chronicall Server or Recording Library Server. You can also use a MAC address if necessary, though the NIC will still need an IPv4 address assigned to it.
- If using a USB NIC, install all drivers and then reboot the server for them to go into full effect.
- Configure the Recording Library to look at the port-mirrored NIC.
-
Go to Admin (System) > System Settings > Recording Libraries > Recording Libraries Configuration.
-
Set the Port Mirror NIC Address to the IP/MAC address of the secondary NIC.
-
Click "OK" through all of the menus and save the changes.
-
- Restart the Chronicall services.
- Assign the port mirror to the appropriate trunk.
-
Go to Admin (System) > System Settings > Recording Libraries > Trunk Configuration.
-
Select the appropriate SIP trunk to be monitored and select "Edit."
-
If the port mirror was already set up (step 3 above), you should be able to select the IP/MAC address from the drop-down menu next to VRTX Serial. You can also manually type in the address if it does not appear.
-
Click "OK" through all of the menus and save the changes.
-
Set up your recording rules to select which agents are recorded.
